Caravanserai 1

An abandoned caravanserai near Gaz. It would have been on the trade route from Tehran to Isfahan and functioned as a large inn for caravans. The tower and walls look little different from Persian castles I have seen, which gives me the suspicion this building also acted as a fort, protecting the traders. (Persian forts were very light affairs. Their way of warfare was still based on horse archers, centuries after the neighbouring Ottomans had switched to massive cannons and colossal gun forts).
