Photo by Bob Garlant. Tierra del Fuego. I have no idea what makes an iceberg develop a perfectly round hole. I like to think a supervillain has been testing laser beams in their secret antarctic base.
EDIT: Mystery of the hole solved by wikipedia. It's called a Moulin, and it's where a channel of water forms along a fissure in the glacier en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moulin_(…
EDIT 2: Waaa! A Daily Deviation!? Massive thanks to EveLivesey for nominating the photo and Elandria for featuring it!

These are my guidelines for using my stock:
Comment on my stock image to let me know you have used it.
On your deviation put a link to the image of mine you have used.
You can use my stock for any purpose (dA prints, pre-made bgs, websites, etc.) except if you are going to be selling the finished image/item, in which case please ask first.
I'd also appreciate a fav on any of the images you use, although this isn't a rule since we all have our own faving policies!
Photoshop will do a nice job of putting a hole in ice.
Very true! And that way you'd get to stay warm. And not have have to pay the airfare to Chile. But it wouldn't be as fun would it?
So that "slice" used to be an entire ice plain with an underground river in that hole? What happened to the rest of it?
Wow. The hole almost looks natural.
I think it's the whales that did it; they like to play hoop-jumping games. Or it's a supervillain.
Ha ha ha! I'm totally going to make a photomanipulation of that!
A couple of people have said they can see a sleeping animal in this, but I just cannot see it myself! Thanks for the congrats though
This is stunning - congratulations on the DD - saving for future use
The wonders of nature, Thank You and congrats on the DD.
The water tribe can't be far from here
why the ice is blue?
In a glacier ice is under high pressure and it forms compact blue crystals. Polar icebergs are mostly frozen sea water and with loose, relatively 'fluffy' crystals, so they look white
Awesome picture - but I don't know if this would really be a Moulin considering the wiki article says they're "vertical to nearly vertical". This is almost horizontal. I vote death ray!
It looks like a meteor made a path into it... and out too.
It;s so pretty~
I just get the feeling of AvP..
I swear that looks like a sleeping horse. Even with the hole there and stuff. I totally thought it had to be a carving, from the thumb, but it is a whole iceberg! Just amazing!!
Oh Look! Somebody broke the ice *sound of crickets chirping*
There's a hooole in the ice, where more ice should go, there's a hole... there's a hole...
Polar mint... the mint with the hole!
shape of the iceberg reminds me of the Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Not a super villain, I nedded to test my plasma breath
reminds me of the movie A V P, cool shot!
Wow! That is really amazing!
Dude. that wikipedia post was put there by a top secret organization to steer attention away from the discovery of their death ray. A top scientist working for them put that there in high detail to make it sound legit.... DO NOT FALL FOR IT
